A note before

We Begin

The Living Garden Journal is where I collect those observations, day after day. It’s a place for anyone who finds joy in growing—whether you’re designing a productive kitchen garden, tending a few pots on a balcony, or simply dreaming of a slower, more grounded life. Here you’ll find practical ideas, thoughtful garden design, and the quiet confidence that comes from learning directly from the landscape. Every article, sketch, and field note is rooted in real experience on a working farm in Maui. Every article, sketch, and field note begins the same way: by paying attention.

Meet the

Gardener

Not everyone who writes about gardens spends their days working in one.

Before creating The Living Garden Journal, I spent years helping landowners, farmers, and conservation partners design resilient landscapes across Hawaiʻi. Today, I continue that work while building my Farm—a small working farm where every sketch, experiment, and lesson shared here is tested in real soil.
